The Winnebago County Jail is located in the Law Enforcement Center at 216 South Clark street in Forest City, IA. The Jail will house 9 inmates at a time, with separate areas for male and female inmates. There are four employees assigned to the Jail Staff. Dale Reineke is the Jailer for the Winnebago County Jail. Dale joined the Sheriff's Staff as a Correctional Officer in 1991. Dale was promoted to Jail Administrator and served as Jail Administrator from 1996-2007 by Sheriff Lillquist. Dale and the Jail Staff must complete correctional training mandated and certified by the State of Iowa. The Staff must complete continuing education courses every year to remain Certified. The Jail is inspected at least once a year by State Inspectors and must meet the standards established by State Law. The admissions process includes fingerprinting and photographing of each inmate. A set of fingerprints is made available to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the FBI, and local Law Enforcement Agencies. A digital photograph is taken of each inmate and is made available to criminal just agencies. The most recent study of the Winnebago County Jail intake for the entire year of 2007 was 316.
