The Sheriff's Office is responsible for the Civil Process Service in Iowa. Our
agency has primary responsibility for supporting the courts and for the service
of "court paper" throughout the county. These papers include summonses,
subpoenas, and other papers issued by the courts. When ordered by the courts,
Iowa Sheriff's also do eviction notices and evictions, repossessions, and attach
and sell property. The Sheriff's Secretary supervises the civil processes in
Winnebago County.
A sheriff's sale is a public sale of real property that has been lawfully seized by the county as directed by a civil court order, or used in reference to real estate sold as a result of a foreclosure judgment. All sales are conducted at the Law Enforcement Center located 216 S. Clark in Forest City, Iowa.
